Consumer Voice Program

The Arc has long believed in consumers of mental health services being a part of the development and implementation of the delivery of services. This program allows consumers of services, or a family member, to be represented on CMH workgroups and committees. The Arc Muskegon recruits, trains, and supports consumers to make this happen. After the training, the consumer will be placed on (average) one (1) committee at CMH and also attend a Consumer Voice monthly meeting. The consumer will receive stipends and are asked to give a one (1) year commitment.

Increased knowledge, social skill building, and increased self-esteem, are just some of the by-products for adults with developmental disabilities. Professionals also experience benefits such as the opportunity to work directly with consumers and increased collaboration with advocacy organizations such as The Arc Muskegon.
